Work!

I’m not really being subtle here.

For me, the month of March ends really well because I finally got the job I wanted.

Yesterday, I went in for an exam and an interview at the rival of the national broadcast company I previously worked for  I could’ve worked for them back in February but they gave me a social media management position (despite my applying for news writing). I really wanted to change careers so I did not accept the job offer. I tried my luck again this month and I was lucky enough that they had an opening and got accepted.

Although I did the exam and the interview, I’ve got to give my uni organization friends credit for putting in good word about me to the boss, as they work at the same company. It just goes to show that building your network of friends and character references goes a long way.

It’s been exactly half a month since I’ve written this article where I said I’m willing to wait for this job. How time flies!

Books

Books I’ve read this month: Six of Crows, Crooked Kingdom.

  • Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom – Six criminals, one impossible heist. I love this duology’s characters so much, they’re like my own children. I have reviewed these two before and you can read it here ^^

Films

Films I’ve watched this month: Zootopia, Beauty and the Beast, Arrival, and Manchester by the Sea.

  • Zootopia – I have heard so many good things about this movie and I didn’t think it’d live up to people’s hype to me but it did. I love how it doesn’t have that formulaic story arc of animated movies Disney has. It truly does explain discrimination to children in a simple and easy-to-understand way and I love it for that.
  • Beauty and the Beast – I previously reviewed it here but I did y’all injustice when I forgot to mention that (SORT OF SPOILER!) what I liked about it most is that they included a background story of Belle’s mother and the villagers. I love how the creators made them relatives with the castle’s staff because it makes sense! Also, a really cool theory is that they’re all stuck in a time loop (Every morning’s just the same, since the morning that we came to this poor provincial town.)
  • I have also reviewed Arrival and Manchester by the Sea before and you can read it here.

Series

TV shows I watched this month: Riverdale, Scandal, How to Get Away with Murder, America’s Next Top Model, The Voice.

  • Scandal – I hated this series at first because I will never approve of cheating (the protagonist is the mistress of the U.S. President) but I love the other characters, especially Mellie–the President’s wife. However, this season’s been playing with my emotions, first Cyrus Beene and now Huck. Shonda Rhimes is really good at manipulating her audience.
  • How to Get Away with Murder – I finally finished season 3 this month and oh my god, I couldn’t care less about who killed Wes lmao. I’m just glad his death brought about other characters’ developments.
  • Riverdale – I’m in love with this series. I love the overall aesthetic of it and the way it adapted the Archie Comics with a dark twist. I think the main characters are perfectly cast too.
  • America’s Next Top Model Cycle 23 – I’m actually trying to watch shows that are on our television and I came across this because our TV is always on a news channel or Star World. This is the first time I watched this show in full. I only caught glimpses of its episodes before but I was intrigued when I saw one model who looked like one of my fav Youtubers (Tatiana Price looked like Asia Jackson to me at first.)
  • The Voice Season 12 – This is also the first time I’ve watched and followed this show. I used to watch American Idol back in its early seasons (1-5, I think) and I love this show’s system of Blinds, Battles, and Knockouts.

Music

  • Liability by Lorde – This is the Lorde I fell in love with. I’ve always loved her metaphors and her honesty.

They say, “You’re a little much for me
You’re a liability
You’re a little much for me”
So they pull back, make other plans
I understand, I’m a liability
Get you wild, make you leave
I’m a little much for
everyone

Skincare and makeup

  • Holika Holika BB Cream – I’ve ran out of my Skinfood Peach Sake BB cream and this one’s not as good but it does well when you want just a tint to your skin.
  • You can read about my skincare routine this month here.

So how was your month?

P.S. I know one of Ed Sheeran’s songs should be up there but I haven’t listened to the whole album and I’d like to first before I judge one song as my fav  ^^

  1. congrats on the job! i’m still on a test as a freelancer in this one company so yeah, not officially recruited yet. they’re testing my skill as a ui ux designer and it’s making me nervous and ugh, sick.

i’m so curious about six of crows! i’m definitely putting it in my goodreads to-read bookshelf. when i went on a date with bf yesterday, i saw it in the bookstore and i had almost bought it but i guess, i’ll try the ebook first before anything else. i can’t wait to read it because HEIST – i mean, who doesn’t love a good heist game? lol

dude, i finally dragged my boyfriend to watch beauty and the beast with me and his reactions were priceless! he was CRINGING during the first few scenes because he’s not a fan of musicals. i’m not a fan too but i mean, i can tolerate it since well…it’s disney, pfft. whadayya expect – Disney cartoons have lots of singing in them. it’s just how it is. but it’s hilarious because my boyfriend had this duck mating call cringing voice throughout HAHAHA

    zootopia is <3
i'm so happy you watched Arrival! i looooove that film so so so much! it annoys me if i hear someone says it's bad because IT'S NOT BAD. IT'S BAD ONLY FOR SIMPLE MINDED PEOPLE, GAH. lol i'm so biased
(i actually argued with my boyfriend because i was defending this movie throughout haha)

i probably should watch riverdale. i've been so curious about it tbh.

True, Arrival can only be bad to those who can’t understand it 😂😂

  3. Congratulations on getting the job you wanted! This is one of the examples of why it’s okay to turn down job offers. At the end, it matters what you want to work as because you’re practically dedicating 1/3 of your day (give/take) on a job. It might as well be something you’ll enjoy :). Glad to hear the company giving you an opportunity!

Zootopia is a great movie. It deserved all of the awards it received. YES, this was a great way of explaining discrimination without being too direct. I haven’t seen Beauty and the Beast yet but I hope to soon ;). I’ve heard that How to Get Away with Murder is a great show so far. I can’t believe they’re already in season 3! Last I remembered, they were just starting out the show. For some reason, Scandal reminds of The Affair show. It’s about cheaters but there are plot twists left and right!

I love Lorde’s voice. She’s great at giving off positive vibes while trying to send her message out.

March was just another month for me X’D. It’s all good~
Hope you’ll have a better April!

I read that theory about Beauty and the Beast as well, and it does make sense when you think about it! XD

I’m a huge Archie Comics fan so of course I watched the first episode of Riverdale, but I stopped because they don’t resemble the characters I love :( It’s too dark for me I guess, and I’ve always seen Archie Comics as a light series, so I’ve gotten back to reading the comics instead :D

Sometimes, the people you know can make a huge difference. Uni can be a great place to build that network because you never know what will happen in the future.

Congratulations on getting the job! Time definitely does fly, but kudos to you know for sticking it out and actually getting the job you wanted! *snaps for Gillan*

Zootopia is one of my favourite animations! I especially love it for the way it explains discrimination – honestly, so genius!

Omg, Scandal is ridiculous. Yet I LOVE it. I need to catch up on the latest series because I am so behind, but Mellie is my favourite too. Shonda Rhimes’ is killing it with her TV shows. I’m just like, “YAASSS, YOU GO SISTA!” I’ve seen people raving about Riverdale, so will definitely need to add that to my neverending list.

Month was alright, not the greatest. It’s April now, though, so time to gear up!

I’ve seen a lot of teachers/nurses etc. who became call center agents instead. I have nothing against them, but I really admire you for not settling for less than the job you wanted.

It looks like I am the only one who hasn’t seen Beauty and The Beast yet.Whyyy. And I guess I am guilty of not giving Zootopia a chance. I am still not sure whether I’d watch it or not, to be honest.

Anywayyyy. I just had a copy of Six of Crows and I cannnooooot waiiiit to read it! ASDFGGGG.

I just finished season 3 of HTGAWM yesterday. Funny how I thought I was up to date to this series cos as far as I could remember, I already finished season 3 last year. Turns out, it was just a season break and they released new episodes for season 3 a few months ago.
