Small to say the least.

If you grew up watching Disney animation films, you know where I’m going with this right? Don’t worry, no spoilers!

I watched the live action Beauty and the Beast yesterday with my boyfriend and I thought it would be average but it shut me up.

Of course it’d be good! Emma looked great as Belle and had a good singing voice, though it was a little bit auto-tuned. I’m sad Dan Stevens had only a few screen time as the Prince, of course, because he really fit the role. I didn’t know Luke Evans could sing, though! This man could do anything. Actually, I’m just really glad they cast people who could sing because I’d be mad if they butchered the songs lmao.

Of course, Audra McDonald (Madame Garderobe) was amazing. My new aesthetic is her singing fabulously with a dog in her arms. I also strive to have Ewan McGregor’s (Lumiere) French accent 1I’m currently learning French and I got a long way to go..

I like how this live action version didn’t change anything but instead added more to the story. I loved the LGBTQ scenes they included. Josh Gad was spectacular as Le Fou.

I especially liked the Beast’s solo 2This doesn’t count as a spoiler right?? It’s in the soundtrack! . Some people were cringing because they were watching the Beast sing and not listening to him sing. The message of the song was so good!

Now I know she’ll never leave me
Even as she fades from view
She will still inspire me
Be a part of everything I do
Wasting in my lonely tower
Waiting by an open door
I’ll fool myself, she’ll walk right in
And as the long, long nights begin
I’ll think of all that might have been
Waiting here for evermore

If you’ve watched the film already, what are the things you liked and didn’t like?

I’m sorry I haven’t been posting so much lately because Chewie is sick with ehrlichiosis, which is like dengue for dogs. I’ve been taking care of him and he’s such a spoiled brat that he refuses to take his meds but he has to so he does  I don’t know what I’d do if I lose him. The vet said he’ll be better in no time due to the antibiotic and supplement he’s taking.

I’d like to dedicate this last part to Toby, my boyfriend’s oldest dog who passed away last March 12. Our little family of dogs will keep growing but he will always be missed :crying:

We miss you so much, Toby!

  1. omg, i haven’t watched it yet. i wanted to watch it on tuesday with boyfriend but we didn’t get tickets. the nearest cinema was packed already. hopefully i can do that next monday, just like how he and i have planned it (well, mainly i planned it because i’m dragging him despite him not feeling excited bout it)

i heard some people complaining about how emma doesn’t fit the role. i think she fits just fine. not sure if i’m just biased or what but emma is a good choice. i mean, imagine someone else who’s much worse than her act as belle?! that’d be an abomination, lol
the interesting one is dan stevens. i never pictured him to be a prince so it’d be something i need to evaluate once i’ve watched it.

i hope they don’t cut the LGBT scene here (in indonesia.) they did cut the gay scene from cloud atlas though so i’m not sure if they won’t do it with beauty and the beast. it’s sad because this country is still against LGBT. (fun fact, the people here actually think that MSG is the cause of LGBT lmao how stupid is that)

what a coincidence! my pooch is having skin condition too. i don’t bring her to the vet though. my family and i are struggling right now so yeah..but even if we’re not, my parents aren’t exactly the “let’s pamper our dogs” kind. they’re not as intense as me. i’d take my dog to the vet if i notice even the slightest change in my dog, ya know what i mean? but my parents, nope. they’re not exactly that kind of people. it’s sad tbh because it’s like they don’t give a damn. like, they care more bout their money than their family — then again, they don’t see our dog as family. they see her as, well… a pet. i’m the only who sees her as my baby haha

anyway, my dog has been feeling itchy and scratching a lot. it’s not flea though, thankfully. probably just itchy rash, like contact dermatitis and nothing crazy like flea or anything like that. i’ve been applying iodine and traditional herbal medicine and it’s been working so there’s that.

i hope chewie gets better soon!

Wow, MSG as the "cause" of being LGBT? That's some heavy stuff, man. Is Indonesia a religious country or does it just have a traditional way of thinking? Philippines is very religious, which is how most people justify being homophobic. It has nothing to do with anything but one's morals as a person, really.

Awww, what's the name of your doggo? I hope she gets well soon, too! That's really sad your parents don't treat her as a child :( I have a very soft heart when it comes to animals, especially dogs, can you tell lmao. My mom loves Chewie more than she loves me and my brother, smh.

@Gillan, i’m not a huge fan of musicals too tbh. i mean, you won’t see me watch pitch perfect because it’s just not my thing. but beauty and the beast is different, right :))
my boyfriend and i dislike musicals but we both knew that we used to watch hsm. come on, who doesn’t?! HAHA

indonesia is a religious muslim country filled with conservative thinking, narrow minded folks. as much as i don’t want to sound racist, the local folks here have such unbearable mindset that most times, i’m always thankful i’m not indonesian by blood. (i mean, i’m a citizen here but my ethnicity isn’t indonesian haha i’m chinese)

my doggo’s name is emily. took the inspiration from australian actress emily browning who i was obsessed with thanks to a series of unfortunate events film :))
i have a very soft spot for animals too! especially fluffy, furry mammals haha.

the thing is, it’s so upsetting how most people in this country see dogs as valuable objects. like, for example… if the dog is a mixed breed mutt, people tend to think the dog is not valuable which is why most prefer buying than adopting because they believe that “pureblood” dogs are better. *rolls eyes* sadly, my parents are sorta kinda like that. oh well, at least my parents care bout the dog too and it’s not like they treat her bitterly or anything.

Aww, Emily is such a cute name! I have a teddy bear named Emily and I will die before I ever give her to a younger cousin lmao. I love Emily Browning, especially in The Uninvited!
It’s the same here, half-breeds are treated less important :( My parents are kinda like that too, but they have no choice ’cause Chewie is my child  That’s good, at least they don’t treat her bad :)

I definitely liked the singing in Beauty and the Beast better overall compared to La La Land. My roomie also wished that Audra was a bigger part of the film! -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey’s

I did hear that the movie was pretty much the same as the animated movie though and I’m not sure how I’ll feel about that. I guess I’ll have to watch and find out!

I hope Chewie feels better soon! Random but your dog has the same name as Arden Cho’s dog, haha. I’m also sorry to hear about Toby :tear: It always sucks when our dogs pass away. My aunt’s dog passed away YEARS ago from cancer and it still hurts a little to think about her.

At first I couldn’t tell who was playing Lumiere because of the accent, but when he sang I was like, “Ahhhh Ewan McGregor I’d recognize your singing voice anywhere!” Lol! :D

Hope your doggo gets better soon! :)

And condolence to your boyfriend’s oldest dog. I know how sad it feels. I remembered crying a lot when our dog died 3 years ago. I still miss him! Especially when I stumble upon his photos. May I know how old his dog was when it passed away?

I liked that they chose Emma as Belle, as she has the personality for it, but her acting all throughout didn’t do it for me; there were good parts though. And the songs!! I love how they retained it and I was shamelessly humming along when I watched the film. I really liked the song ‘Belle’ and how it was performed in the movie.

That’s the thing, because it’s entirely like the animated movie and I don’t want to pay even matinee prices for the movie that I can watch at home for free, still I hear mixed things about the singing and chemistry between the two leads. There are instances that I still think about the film even after 3 days but for this one, I almost forgot that I had it. Though they portrayed everything so nice, I am still looking for some spice. Anyhow, it’s nice. :D Most especially the one of the “Be Our Guest” part. <3

They did an awesome job at bringing the original animation to "life", the result is even better than The Jungle Book; my favorite parts are the "Something there" and especially the "Evermore" scenes – that song is my absolute favorite (together with Something there) in the movie.

The only thing that disappointed me a bit were the golden dress – which was gorgeous but still didn't stand out as much as the original one, making the scene look a bit less iconic (nostalgia playing here, maybe?).
I'm also kind of baffled at all the "LeFou's gay" noise: that aspect is actuallt downplayed in the movie imo, and only comes out like a couple of times and still very sensitively (and funnily), so I really don't get why people fuss so much over it. -_-
